Healthy Breakfast Option - Poha

 Hi guys!

Welcome to Prettyladiestalk!! I am sharing the healthy insights to empower your health. Today I’ll do my best to give you a very healthy snack option to keep you healthy and fit!

I am going to talk about Poha. It is of course a very common and healthy snack option!f If you’re an Indian, you know how commonly this snack is made on Sundays. It is a warm welcome to your weekend and a happy start to your day!

Poha is available in varieties: Thick, thin, big, small. People also call them flattened rice or beaten rice because it is made from rice. The process of manufacturing pohas make it even more healthy as the rice is flattened using iron machines giving it more iron. This snack is full of healthy IRON!

It has so many vitamins: A, B1, B3, C, Folic Acid. And so many minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium and zinc. And you know what the brownie point is? This snack is low-calorie.

If you’re an Indian, you’d know how many versions we have of making Poha! Some people add groundnuts, chillies, coriander leaves, seeds and so much more.

Regardless of how you make it, it is so beneficial. Let us understand its health benefits:

1. If you have high blood sugar/diabetes, eating poha can be safe and good for you. Just avoid sprinkling extra sugar in the dish.

2. Poha is said to work like a probiotic that cleanses your gut and colon to keep you healthy. If you have gut health issues, having poha can be very beneficial for your overall health.

3. Of course, Poha is a low-calorie food which makes it a very good option for people who want to lose weight! You can lose weight especially if you make a habit of eating snacks which are as good as Poha. Consistency is the key!

4. Poha is a great source of energy as it has energy-giving carbs and healthy fats that your body needs to convert into energy. So if you’re always low on energy, fatigued, Poha is for you!

5. There’s nothing as easy as Poha for your digestive system. It just gets digested so quickly and easily. It is good even when you’re not feeling good or you want to have a light meal.

6. If you have anaemia or an iron deficiency, you might want to include Poha about two or three times in your weekly breakfast calender. Poha is rich in iron!

7. There are not many healthy breakfast options already because we have biscuits, coffee and every sugary thing. But if you’re lactose intolerant, you’d have even fewer options. Poha is good for people who suffer from lactose intolerance.

8. If you’re pregnant or have a lack of B complex Vitamins, consider having Poha regularly as it has a good amount of Vitamin B complex.

9. Poha also contains Magnesium which is important for you heart and brain development. Pregnant women can have poha to ensure their baby’s brain and heart develop well.

10. The last benefit is of couse, variation! Instead of having the same kind of breakfast, have Poha with variation! You can add onions for a change, potatoes for carbs, groundnuts for energy, chilli for a quick blood purification and coriander leaves for detox.

Isn’t Poha indeed a very good option? Kids and adults love this because it is so tasty, but wait, eat it in moderation or you may suffer from some side effects too.

Too much Poha can cause stomach ache, bloating, gas, IBS, acidity, heartburn and irritate your bowels. Make sure you cook Poha really well!

Let us know how you cook Poha in your style! Keep liking, sharing and do not forget to subscribe to my website.

I hope you take care of yourselves! See you soon, have a good day!

Five Holi-Related Skin and Hair Queries

Five Holi-Related Skin and Hair Queries You Probably Always Had

The most colorful and vibrant festival of India - Holi - is marked with much fun and fervor throughout the country and other parts of the world. Celebrating the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’, songs, water balloons and bright colors are the major highlights of this vivid and lively festival. Bright colored powders, known as ‘Gulal’ are smeared on everyone’s faces accompanied by splashing of colored water. And while the festival brings so much joy, your skin and hair bear the brunt of it. Chemical colours are extremely harsh, long hours of exposure to the sun, irregular meal times and sleeping patterns all contribute to lack-lustre skin and hair.

Does this mean that you should not celebrate Holi, and run into your house and hide? Of course not! With a few simple hacks from Dr. Sangeeta Velaskar, Vice President and Head, Medical Services and R&D, Kaya Limited your hair, skin and nails will feel fabulous in no time.

Does oiling your skin and hair really help?
Definitely. The chemicals in the colour and the exposure to sun strip your skin and hair of their natural oils and moisture. Oil forms a protective barrier, keeps your skin nourished and makes it easy to get colour out. Especially tough to reach spots like ear lobes, belly button etc. So apply two layers of oil to your body, and head out and enjoy some Holi fun without fear.

How many times can I bathe in a day to get the colour out?
After Holi, your skin is already sensitive and has probably even reacted to the colours. In such a state you would not want to further strip your skin of its natural moisture, and alter its PH balance by bathing multiple times a day. Ideally, try not to bathe more than two times a day, unless absolutely necessary. Most importantly, ensure that you moisturize adequately each time.

Is there any way to keep the colour out of my nails?
Nails are porous in nature hence they tend to absorb a lot of color, which makes the holi colour stain more prominent. Apply a layer of clear nail polish or any colour of your choice to prevent them from absorbing artificial colour.

Does exfoliation help get rid of the colour quickly?
Exfoliation is an abrasive activity, and when your skin is already dry, the process would do more harm than good. Any cleanser that has Sodium Laureth Sulfate in it which is known to be a degreaser and strips away colour is a much better way to go about it, follow this up with a good moisturizer.

So, the colour is out, but my skin and hair is still dull and dry, what do I do?
Your skin regenerates and repairs itself at night, so it is the best time to restore essential nutrients, moisture and a natural glow to your skin. Invest in a good serum that can be applied before going to bed, and an overnight hair serum to restore the bounce to your tresses. You would be able to see results within two to four weeks depending on the products used.

How To Solve Irregular & Delayed Periods Issues - Namyaa Period Care kit

Menstruation marks the beginning of a woman’s reproductive years. My daughter had entered her teens with her puberty stage also. The day arrived when she got her first period marking her to the step towards woman. I remember that day so well, as she cried non stop. She was so tiny for me to achieve this stage. Her periods had evolved into a nightmare which came with the heaviness of the bleeding and really painful.

Normal Mensuration cycle is of 28 days on an average. But when the cycle is more than 35 to 40 days or even more than that it is called Irregular Periods. During the start days I did not worry about the irregularity of my daughter’s periods thinking that it is early stage and it will take some months for regular cycle. But this Irregularity banged with heavy bleeding, spotting, mood swing, and tremendous pain. She was in such bad state in those days, she would speak nor eat and just cry with the pain and keep on changing and cleaning. This took me to research what was the cause of this irregularity.

What is amenorrhea in teens?

Amenorrheais when a girl’s menstruation period doesn’t occur. There are 2 types:

• Primary amenorrhea is when the first menstrual period doesn’t occur by age 15 and which can be a lifelong problem.

• Secondary amenorrhea is when normal menstrual period stops occurring for 3 months or more which can be due to the physical cause.

Amenorrhea or  irregular menstruation in her can occur due to the following reasons:

• Hormonal Changes

• Hormonal Imbalance

• Extreme weight loss

• Stress

• Anorexia and Bulimia

After a lot of research and recommendations “Namyaa Period Care kit” was the perfect solution for my daughter’s irregular periods. I started with the Namyaa Anartava regularly 20ml everyday after breakfast and dinner for 90 days span.

I would also like to say about the two other products of this range: Namyaa Aatharva Kshaya and Namyaa Shwetkanika.
