Healthy Breakfast Option - Poha

 Hi guys!

Welcome to Prettyladiestalk!! I am sharing the healthy insights to empower your health. Today I’ll do my best to give you a very healthy snack option to keep you healthy and fit!

I am going to talk about Poha. It is of course a very common and healthy snack option!f If you’re an Indian, you know how commonly this snack is made on Sundays. It is a warm welcome to your weekend and a happy start to your day!

Poha is available in varieties: Thick, thin, big, small. People also call them flattened rice or beaten rice because it is made from rice. The process of manufacturing pohas make it even more healthy as the rice is flattened using iron machines giving it more iron. This snack is full of healthy IRON!

It has so many vitamins: A, B1, B3, C, Folic Acid. And so many minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium and zinc. And you know what the brownie point is? This snack is low-calorie.

If you’re an Indian, you’d know how many versions we have of making Poha! Some people add groundnuts, chillies, coriander leaves, seeds and so much more.

Regardless of how you make it, it is so beneficial. Let us understand its health benefits:

1. If you have high blood sugar/diabetes, eating poha can be safe and good for you. Just avoid sprinkling extra sugar in the dish.

2. Poha is said to work like a probiotic that cleanses your gut and colon to keep you healthy. If you have gut health issues, having poha can be very beneficial for your overall health.

3. Of course, Poha is a low-calorie food which makes it a very good option for people who want to lose weight! You can lose weight especially if you make a habit of eating snacks which are as good as Poha. Consistency is the key!

4. Poha is a great source of energy as it has energy-giving carbs and healthy fats that your body needs to convert into energy. So if you’re always low on energy, fatigued, Poha is for you!

5. There’s nothing as easy as Poha for your digestive system. It just gets digested so quickly and easily. It is good even when you’re not feeling good or you want to have a light meal.

6. If you have anaemia or an iron deficiency, you might want to include Poha about two or three times in your weekly breakfast calender. Poha is rich in iron!

7. There are not many healthy breakfast options already because we have biscuits, coffee and every sugary thing. But if you’re lactose intolerant, you’d have even fewer options. Poha is good for people who suffer from lactose intolerance.

8. If you’re pregnant or have a lack of B complex Vitamins, consider having Poha regularly as it has a good amount of Vitamin B complex.

9. Poha also contains Magnesium which is important for you heart and brain development. Pregnant women can have poha to ensure their baby’s brain and heart develop well.

10. The last benefit is of couse, variation! Instead of having the same kind of breakfast, have Poha with variation! You can add onions for a change, potatoes for carbs, groundnuts for energy, chilli for a quick blood purification and coriander leaves for detox.

Isn’t Poha indeed a very good option? Kids and adults love this because it is so tasty, but wait, eat it in moderation or you may suffer from some side effects too.

Too much Poha can cause stomach ache, bloating, gas, IBS, acidity, heartburn and irritate your bowels. Make sure you cook Poha really well!
